Broccoli Sprouts, a True Superfood

Broccoli Sprouts, a True Superfood

Broccoli sprouts are a great source of nutrition providing a plethora of essential vitamins, and fairly recently they’ve been found to provide numerous health benefits beyond supplying vitamins! Studies have shown that regular intake of broccoli sprouts can reduce the risk of cancers, protect cardiovascular health and even decrease insulin resistance.

Their glucoraphanin content is one of the main reasons why they’re so beneficial for dogs. Glucoraphanin is a chemical found in broccoli sprouts that has been linked to these benefits. Glucoraphanin enters the body via the sprouts but is then converted to another chemical called sulforaphane. And that’s when the magic happens! Because Sulforaphane is an even more powerful antioxidant with massive cancer fighting abilities.

How does it all work? Detoxification is an important part of the body's natural defense system against carcinogens. Sulforaphane triggers the detox process and enables the body to get rid of more carcinogens than it could otherwise.

You can of course feed fresh broccoli sprouts to your dog; they’re cheaply, easily and quickly grown at home. And we highly recommend doing this! But for a therapeutic amount, supplementation is simply more convenient and efficient. Adding them to our formula was a no-brainer, making it super simple to include them in your bestie’s diet no matter what you’re feeding.
